Dr Nigel Saunders
Chief Scientific Officer
Nigel is an expert in medical bacteriology, functional and comparative genomics, bacterial systems and evolutionary biology.

He was the first recipient of the Wellcome Trust Fellowship in Medical Microbiology.

For 11 years, Nigel was the Principle Investigator of the Bacterial Pathogenesis and Functional Genomics Group at The Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford. For nine years, he was the First Interdisciplinary Chair of Systems and Synthetic Biology (Computer Science, Maths, & Biological Sciences) at Brunel University London.

Nigel is also one of the founding managers of the Oxford University Computational Biology Research Group.

Until recently, John was Senior Staff Bioinformatician at Illumina, a global leader in genomics, having spent over ten years with the firm.

Previously, he was a Senior Bioinformatician at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, and before that, he was a Manager at Oxford University's Bioinformatics Centre.

Dr Susie Jerwood
Chief Medical Officer
Susie has a background as a medical microbiologist, having trained across the South Coast of England and was previously a consultant in infection at University Hospitals Sussex. Her early consultant career focused on antimicrobial stewardship before specialising in infection prevention and becoming the Trust’s Infection Control Doctor for six years.
She also gained experience in management whilst spending five years as the Clinical Director for Pathology.
Currently, Susie is using her experience in hospital medicine and infection prevention and control to demonstrate the benefits of whole genome sequencing in exposing and preventing healthcare-associated infections

Involved in several exits. Held senior leadership roles in sales, marketing, product management and business development, with consistent success in driving growth and over-achieving on revenue targets.

Professor Jonathan Cohen
Prof. Emeritus & Senior Advisor
Professor Cohen is an Emeritus Professor of Infectious Diseases at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where he specialized in treating severe bacterial infections. He was the first Chair of Infectious Disease at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School / Hammersmith Hospital, President of the International Society for Infectious Diseases, and a NED at Kings College Hospital NHS Trust since 2015.
He worked for 11 years as the founding Dean of Brighton and Sussex Medical School. Jon has published >200 papers on research and clinical trials into septic shock and spent five years as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Infectious Diseases.

For 40 years, Professor Livermore has belonged to – then led – teams that have defined the evolving epidemiology and molecular nature of antimicrobial resistance; and was Head of the UK National Reference Laboratory for antimicrobial resistance.
He has authored over 500 papers, has edited for multiple journals and has served on UK government advisory committees on antimicrobial resistance and healthcare infection. David now works part-time for the University of East Anglia while also consulting the medical industry on antibiotic development and rapid diagnostics.Â

Jonathan recently retired as Senior Partner with Kearney Management Consultants, where he led the European Healthcare Practice. He also founded NEXT Consulting providing Software as a Service technology solution.
Over a 30-year career, Jonathan has worked with leading pharma and medical technology companies, health insurers, care providers and governments, helping to develop and launch digital healthcare solutions, launch and improve access to new therapies, pricing and health system design.
Jonathan recently retired as Senior Partner with Kearney Management Consultants, where he led the European Healthcare Practice. He also founded NEXT Consulting providing Software as a Service technology solution.
